New Inquiries – FAQ
We receive many inbound emails requesting our services. In an effort to head off common questions before they are asked and to be more efficient, we’ve compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions.
Please read these before filling out our contact form.
Can we start right away, or is there a waitlist?
We are a small boutique firm and choose to be deeply involved in all of our work. We are thoughtful, thorough, and have a very personal process with each of our clients. This higher standard of care has resulted in a healthy demand for our services, and as such, we typically have about a 4-6 month waitlist for full design services.
The waitlist for smaller services like Design Review and Feasibility Studies is typically shorter. These get slotted in where natural gaps occur between projects or between phases of work.
How do you decide which projects and clients to take on?
While we do make exceptions for unique projects, we realize that we’re not the right fit for a lot of clients/projects and therefore sometimes have to decline work that does not uniquely fit us or speak to us. Currently, projects/clients that are a good fit for us meet the following criteria:
- You want a contemporary design or a hybrid style that includes some form of contemporary design.
- You value good design and believe your project would benefit from a high level of design thinking and exploration
- You are open-minded about the direction the design takes (you have an idea of what you want to achieve but are open-minded about what the design could be and open to us exploring various ideas together to find the right solution)
- You have a realistic construction budget that will allow us to do our best work. These are approximate benchmarks for minimum construction budgets:
- For full/comprehensive design services: Minimum $350k for whole-house renovation/addition or over $800k for new construction homes
- For basic & concept services: Minimum $300k for whole-house renovation/addition or over $600k for new construction homes
Where can we find out more information about you to see if we are a good fit?

What does the typical onboarding process look like for full design services?
If you feel we’re aligned in our design sensibility, expectations, and general project fit, please fill out the contact form. From there, our typical onboarding sequence is as follows:
- Follow-up email w/ a Client Intake Form attached
- Return the Intake Form
- Discovery Call to learn more about your project goals, confirm we’re a good fit, and discuss which of our service offerings may be best for you
- Proposal for services (sign, return, remit payment to reserve next available spot in our waitlist)
- Kickoff email (2-3 weeks before the start date)
Do you take on non-local and out of state projects?
Yes. It depends on the project, the type of design service, the budget, and the location.
