Frequently Asked Questions
About Working With Us:
No, we are not a drafting service. If you already have a design, we are not the right fit for you. We are designers who enjoy working collaboratively with our clients to co-create a design together that is specific to them and their site. By going through our design process, we ensure the design follows the local building and zoning codes while meeting the needs of our clients.
Yes, depending on the location, the scope of services requested, and the project budget.
For full architectural design services, our vetting process is more rigorous for out of area projects because they take more of our time than local ones (i.e. travel, understanding the local conditions and codes, onboarding the right team members, etc). We need to make sure we’re a good fit for each other, that the project is a design challenge that we’d be interested in taking on, and there’s a healthy budget for us to do our best work.
For concept design services, we can easily work with out of state clients who are willing to send us photos, take a few walk-through videos with their phone, and snap some dimensions for as-built conditions. With that information, we’re able to create a design concept that they can get excited about and then execute however they see fit.
It depends on the size of the project. The majority of our renovation projects have a budget of at least $200K but we try to focus on larger whole-house remodels with larger budgets. On occasion, we will do a smaller renovation with a smaller budget if the client was a referral from someone in our network or a previous client.

It depends on the jurisdiction and the project scope. In many cases, if you’re building a single-family residence you don’t need a licensed architect. Read more here: Do I need an architect for my residential project?
Architects are uniquely trained and have the experience to take your project requirements (needs, wants, stylistic preferences, budget, timeframe, site characteristics, and local codes) and compose them into a cohesive, thoughtful, and unique home that is specific to you and your site and protects your financial investment.
It varies per project. For smaller projects, fees are often a fixed fee. Some projects are hourly if we cannot specifically define the scope or how many hours it will take us to do the project.
Full architectural design service fees tend to be approximately 8%-15% of the construction cost depending on the size, complexity, and scope of services provided for the project (smaller projects will be a higher percentage). Concept Design services tend to be approximately $4k-$8k.
